Washington, D.C. weather forecast: Sizzling temps on the way, Heat Advisory may be posted

High pressure off the coast will bring scorching heat to the mid-Atlantic for several days.

Wind: South 5-10 mph

Hot and Humid, PM T-Storms (30%)

A few showers may linger during the evening and overnight hours as temperatures fall to the upper 60s to middle 70s. Areas of light fog may develop, but should not cause any travel delays. High pressure will start to build off the coast allowing for a prolonged period of hot and humid temperatures. Highs Monday will be in the lower to middle 90s.

Heat advisories may be needed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as afternoon highs will flirt with 100 degrees with even hotter heat index readings.

A Head Advisory is generally issued with 12 to 24 hours notice when the heat index is expected to rise above 105 degrees.
