Every photo has a story, and during the holidays, Yahoo! News asked readers to share one photo, and the story behind it, that holds meaning for them. Here's one.
FIRST PERSON | My daughter Kiesha Bowles set her camera to automatic and took this family photo at Christmas 2011. This picture is proof to me of answered prayer. My son-in-law Dustin had several close calls while serving in Iraq. Had he died, as did some of his comrades, this photo would not exist.
When I look at this picture, I am thankful my son-in-law did not die in Iraq. I am sorry for the families of those who did. And I as I think of their sacrifice, I remember that Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice. He came from heavenly splendor, to be born in a manger, to live the life of a poor man, and give His life for the world.
As I see the joy in the faces of my daughter and son in law I think of the joy that Mary Joseph and the shepherds must have felt during that first Christmas.
