Dear Friend:

I am pleased to report the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has agreed to my request to include Westchester and Rockland Counties in its major disaster declaration for New York. Because the damage is so significant, the lower Hudson Valley is officially eligible for Individual Assistance and Public Assistance to help recover.

? If you have suffered personal losses of uninsured property as a result of Hurricane Sandy, you may be eligible for Individual Assistance, which can include housing assistance, disaster unemployment assistance, crisis counseling, and more.

? Public Assistance covers repairs or replacement of infrastructure (roads, bridges, public buildings), but also includes debris removal and emergency protective and public safety measures.

To learn more about these federal assistance programs, begin the application process, or check your application status, please visit www.DisasterAssistance.gov, m.fema.gov on your smartphone, or call 1-800-621-3362.

As always, please feel free to contact me at 914-428-1707 or 845-639-3485 if I can be of assistance.

Sincerely,

Nita Lowey
Member of Congress
